Windows Holographic the new AR/VR OS from Microsoft

Now anyone can create their very own augmented reality (AR) headset with the Windows Holographic platform. Like engadget said in an article Microsoft has basically opened up the platform to all of its partners just like they did with windows for PC. I think this is a very smart move by Microsoft seeing that the VR industry is blowing up right now. What do you think?

The HoloLens is an amazing peace of hardware but it is also very expensive at the moment. Opening up Windows Holographic will open up many opportunities for new innovations and ideas. There are already some rumors that there is a third party company working on a HoloLens clone that might launch before the actual Microsoft HoloLens it self. Thats great new because I want to get my hand on an AR headset soon. You are getting one too I know don’t worry I won’t tell anyone how excited you are.

Im sure we will see some of Microsofts partners like Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo come up with some exciting devices. Microsoft has always been the leader in the software licensing market so its really no surprise here. Windows Holographic will also power virtual reality headset like the HTC Vive seen in the demo video above.

The possibilities are endless with Microsoft Holographic with both VR and AR working together who knows what we will come up with. In the end this is very good for developers and consumers now there are more big names in the market. This means that VR and AR is hear to stay even though there are some that think it will be a phase.

NextVR + Live Nation = Live Virtual Reality Concerts and Events

The Live broadcast VR firm NextVR  announced a major collaboration with Live Nation. NextVR specializes in professional virtual reality live streaming in the sports world, bringing live sporting events like golf, boxing into virtual reality. Now the company is partnering with Live Nation to “broadcast hundreds of live, cutting-edge performances in virtual reality to music fans worldwide.”

I am sure event like this will need big computer power and professional set up and most venues are not heard up for virtual reality which is why NextVr is a great option for major concerts and events.

“Live stereoscopic VR requires a lot of compute horsepower,” Ryan Sheridan, NextVR’s senior vice president for Imaging and Production Technologies said. “With the truck, we will not be encumbered by the venue or audio limitations in the venue from which we are broadcasting. We simply roll up, deploy our equipment, plug into the infrastructure and produce the content.”

vivex-htc-accelerator

HTC is coming up with more ways to get people interested in virtual reality which is why they came up with the Vive X in China today. HTC announced that it will be devoting $100 million to the new virtual reality accelerator program for developers.

The applications are live on HTC’s site and the accelerator will be at locations in Beijing, San Francisco and Taipei. If you get in now you might have a chance to get into the VR space and work with heavy hitters. If you are a developer for virtual reality then this is your chance to get into VR.

HTC launched the HTC Vive last month and I’m sure they are trying to get developers to jump on their headset. Virtual reality is changing the world as we see it today and this is only the start to an amazing technology journey.

“Virtual reality is changing the world, yet to do that effectively it needs a healthy eco-system to expand into the mass market,” said HTC CEO Cher Wang.

I am sure that is some sort of Google Cardboard but I can’t help but notice that there is a camera connected on the top. Looks like its also connected to the charging port of the phone as well. I am sure we will find out soon what he was doing and what device he was using to see in virtual reality.

HTC Vive Shipping Update Questions

HTC Vive posted another update about their shipping issues with the HTC Vive VR headset they had earlier this week.  These are all the questions they answered in their blog post earlier today. If you are having issues with your HTC Vive delivery be sure to contact them as soon as possible.

  • When is my expected delivery date?

Your Vive system will be shipped in the month noted in your order confirmation email. When your purchase has been completed and your order has been shipped, you will receive a separate shipment notification email, which includes a tracking number.

  • Are orders being processed and shipped for PayPal users, but not credit cards?

Both credit card and PayPal orders are currently shipping. There is no difference in order fulfillment based on the payment method used.

  • Are orders processed and shipped in the order received?

We have a first in, first out policy for Vive order fulfillment.  There were a small number of orders at the beginning of April that were processed out of sequential order.  However, we have corrected the situation and all future shipments will be sent in the order in which they were received.

  • I paid for express shipping, but I received economy shipping. Why?

We will be issuing a refund (within 5 to 10 business days of shipment) of the shipping cost difference to all customers who paid for express shipping but received economy shipping. We apologize for any inconvenience.

  • Is HTC communicating with customers affected by order processing issues?

We are contacting customers affected by order processing issues through multiple channels – directly with customers and through updates on the blog here.

  • What do I do if my order has been delayed?

Vive order fulfillment is on track without delays, so you don’t need to do a thing. Pre-orders began shipping on April 5th, as originally communicated. You can check your order confirmation email to find out when your order will be shipped.

  • I was charged, but didn’t receive my tracking information. Why?

PayPal payments are made immediately at the time you order, but shipment occurs according to the order in which all orders were received. Credit card payments will place a temporary hold on the funds until your Vive has been shipped. Either way, you will receive an order confirmation email first, and a separate shipment notification email with tracking information when your order has been shipped.

  • How do I get my bundled content?

Your bundled content will arrive via an email containing a redemption code within 24 hours of your Vive shipping.

  • Why are there discrepancies between what HTC Care is telling customers and what the HTC Vive channels are telling customers?

We acknowledge there were some inconsistencies in our communication. We have taken the steps to align all messaging moving forward.

  • My pending authorization hold dropped off my card and I haven’t received shipping information. What do I do?

Please contact our customer care team with your order number and we will look into this for you.

Virtual Reality Video Games Future VR Gaming

oculusluckystale

Lucky’s Tale one of the first Oculus VR Games | Oculus.com

Is virtual reality video games the future of gaming?

I think that the answer to this question is a definite yes! The reason is the first 3 VR headsets are all about immersive game experiences not including the Samsung Gear VR. The future is now and virtual reality gaming here. The Oculus Rift is launching with 30 games in the Oculus Store which is very impressive. The HTC Vive is also another VR headset dedicated to gaming and its integrated with the steam gaming software. The third VR headset is Playstation VR which was originally Project Morpheus when is was first in development. Over all the point is that virtual reality video games are here now and its only  the beginning.

Where can I find virtual reality video games?

You will start seeing virtual reality video games on youtube and other video streaming service. The virtual reality video games prices range from $10 to $60 this give you a good range of choices if you are on a budget. You will eventually see virtual reality video games for sale on pc games, online games, arcade games, computer games and even Xbox games.

I don’t know about you but I am ready to immerse my self in virtual reality video games this year. Hope you likes this article please follow us on Twitter for more  virtual reality tech news and tips.

HTC Vive VR shipping update

Vivepreces2016
An Update on Vive Pre-orders | HTCVive.com

It appears that there are some issues with shipping the first wave of HTC Vive VR pre-orders. According to their blog post they are experiencing issues with the credit card companies where the funds are either being denied or not going through. They requested that who ever has already pre-ordered a HTC Vive VR headset to contact their financial institution. This will give them a heads up about the charge that is coming up so your ordered won’t get delayed.

HTC is working with everyone that is experiencing any issues with their orders and are fixing them right away. Here are a few tips to make sure your order makes it on time. Once you pre-order your HTC Vive VR device I would call in your bank right away. Let them know that you are expecting a charge from HTC for about $800. That will definitely make sure your transaction goes smoothly the day of your device being shipped.

You can contact HTC support here at 1 888-216-4736 or online at http://www.htcvive.com/support. You can read more about the HTC Vive VR headset on  blog post we wrote earlier. I can’t wait until my headset comes in so I can fully give my opinion and review on it.

Google Cardboard Plastic? #CardboardPlastic

newgooglecardboardvrplastic
THIS IS CARDBOARD. ONLY PLASTIC | Google.com

Google does it again this year with their April fools joke for 2016. They came  up with this idea of a plastic Cardboard VR which I think is kind of hilarious. This is what actual reality is and will be like in the future of Cardboard VR.  Although there have been rumors of Google working on a plastic version of Google Cardboard but maybe this was all a hoax from the beginning.

I really think google is working on something big for virtual reality especially with the VR View announcement. I don’t think this plastic virtual reality headset is it but I know they will announce something new. All the hype about VR this year will be huge and Google as one of the big tech companies I know they will lead virtual reality in a positive way for the consumers.

Google Cardboard VR Introduces VR view

CardboardVRview
Introducing VR view: embed immersive content into your apps and websites | Google Blog

So Google announced that it will add a VR view functionality to the Google Cardboard SDK. This new feature will allow you as a developer or website owner to integrate VR images and video early. All you need is a few lines of code and you are all set to make you website or application more immersive for VR users.

VR views take 360 VR images or videos then make them into virtual reality experiences that users can view on a phone, with Cardboard VR, or on the computer. Native apps can embed a VR view by grabbing the latest Cardboard SDK for Android or iOS* . Embedding a VR view on the web is as simple as adding an iframe on your site.

I can’t wait to see what all the developers will do with this new feature. I think that this will enable more opportunities for example maybe snapchat might use this in their app.

Now you can see your amazing panoramic pictures in a full 360 view with Google Cardboard VR  with this new app announced by Google. Cardboard Camera turns the smartphone in your pocket into a virtual reality (VR) camera.

VR photos are three-dimensional panoramas, with slightly different views for each eye, so near things look near and far things look far. With Cardboard Camera, anyone can create their own VR experience.
