Windows Holographic the new AR/VR OS from Microsoft

Now anyone can create their very own augmented reality (AR) headset with the Windows Holographic platform. Like engadget said in an article Microsoft has basically opened up the platform to all of its partners just like they did with windows for PC. I think this is a very smart move by Microsoft seeing that the VR industry is blowing up right now. What do you think?

The HoloLens is an amazing peace of hardware but it is also very expensive at the moment. Opening up Windows Holographic will open up many opportunities for new innovations and ideas. There are already some rumors that there is a third party company working on a HoloLens clone that might launch before the actual Microsoft HoloLens it self. Thats great new because I want to get my hand on an AR headset soon. You are getting one too I know don’t worry I won’t tell anyone how excited you are.

Im sure we will see some of Microsofts partners like Intel, AMD, Qualcomm, Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo come up with some exciting devices. Microsoft has always been the leader in the software licensing market so its really no surprise here. Windows Holographic will also power virtual reality headset like the HTC Vive seen in the demo video above.

The possibilities are endless with Microsoft Holographic with both VR and AR working together who knows what we will come up with. In the end this is very good for developers and consumers now there are more big names in the market. This means that VR and AR is hear to stay even though there are some that think it will be a phase.

NextVR + Live Nation = Live Virtual Reality Concerts and Events

The Live broadcast VR firm NextVR  announced a major collaboration with Live Nation. NextVR specializes in professional virtual reality live streaming in the sports world, bringing live sporting events like golf, boxing into virtual reality. Now the company is partnering with Live Nation to “broadcast hundreds of live, cutting-edge performances in virtual reality to music fans worldwide.”

I am sure event like this will need big computer power and professional set up and most venues are not heard up for virtual reality which is why NextVr is a great option for major concerts and events.

“Live stereoscopic VR requires a lot of compute horsepower,” Ryan Sheridan, NextVR’s senior vice president for Imaging and Production Technologies said. “With the truck, we will not be encumbered by the venue or audio limitations in the venue from which we are broadcasting. We simply roll up, deploy our equipment, plug into the infrastructure and produce the content.”

NextVR has done a few events already like Coldplay’s concert, NBA Games, Golf Tournament and even the Democratic debate. You can experience NextVr using the app the Samsung Gear VR headset

vivex-htc-accelerator

HTC is coming up with more ways to get people interested in virtual reality which is why they came up with the Vive X in China today. HTC announced that it will be devoting $100 million to the new virtual reality accelerator program for developers.

The applications are live on HTC’s site and the accelerator will be at locations in Beijing, San Francisco and Taipei. If you get in now you might have a chance to get into the VR space and work with heavy hitters. If you are a developer for virtual reality then this is your chance to get into VR.

HTC launched the HTC Vive last month and I’m sure they are trying to get developers to jump on their headset. Virtual reality is changing the world as we see it today and this is only the start to an amazing technology journey.

“Virtual reality is changing the world, yet to do that effectively it needs a healthy eco-system to expand into the mass market,” said HTC CEO Cher Wang.

I am sure we will find out soon what he was doing and what device he was using to see in virtual reality.
